The Black Pullet Grimoire

The Black Pullet Grimoire

6r. Translated, edited and introduced by Paul Summers Young. ENGLISH

Notes

The Black Pullet is an 18th-century French grimoire attributed to a French soldier who claimed to have learned ancient magical secrets in Egypt. It details the creation of magical talismans and rings said to grant powers like invisibility, wealth, and control over others. The book blends mystical lore with pseudo-Egyptian symbolism and is often associated with the legend of Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign.

This new edition presents the talismans of the 1820 edition made famous by Waite, along with the instructions for the ‘Black Hen who Lays the Golden Eggs’ and the ‘Black Owl’. It incorporates material from three variant editions of the book, and contextual extracts from its literary inspiration, ‘Le Comte de Gabalis’.
