5B, 1611 Old and New Testament (8.25" x 6.5), translated from the Hebrew and Greek texts.

Description 

The general title page (1610) engraved within woodcut border comprising twenty-four compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles.  Title is enclosed within a heart-shaped frame.  Text in two column Roman font.  Printed tite page to the second part before Psalms with center ornament, head-and tailpiece.  Apocrypha sometimes removed.  Comeplete set of woodcut illustrations and maps.  New Testament title page (1610) similar to general title.   Bound with the whole book of Psalmes by Sternhold and Hopkins (1612) lacking he final two leaves of the prayers.  Woodcut first chapters initials, colophons, and decorative head-and tailpieces throughout.

Notes

Contemporary brown calf with blind-stamped central lozenge and brass clasps.  Spine with four raised  bands.  All edges red.  Chipping to upper and lower spine with scuffing on upper and lower boards as well. General staining and browning to interior pages. Fine condition overall.
